I must say, the CFIR doesn't seem to have a knack for returning voicemails or answering the phone during business hours. It's quite baffling how they claim to prioritize the needs of their potential clients. This is a prime example of false advertising, wouldn't you agree?
Terrible, disheartening experience! I contacted them seeking information about their advertised claims of 'affordable services' and 'variable fee options', only to be informed that I would have to schedule a complimentary consultation to discover the potential reductions in fees by the individual therapist. After recounting a lifetime of trauma to Jessica Prieur for 20 minutes just to ascertain the extent to which she could reduce her fees, she mentioned that her rates were not within her control and that she would need to inquire with someone else regarding the lowest possible rate. Ultimately, Jessica relayed that she could not lower her $110 per hour rates for me. This is an exceptionally CRUEL and indifferent approach to enticing individuals into scheduling an initial consultation! If you do not genuinely provide a sliding scale, refrain from promoting it to manipulate people's expectations! SHAME ON YOU!!!
Absolutely dreadful experience... waited a good 15 minutes for my appointment only to find no one showed up. On top of that, the staff were extremely rude and unprofessional.
Absolutely dreadful service. Every time I've attempted to contact them, I've had to endure a minimum wait of one month. Presently, I am unable to make contact after leaving three voicemails spaced a week apart. They owe me a sum of money but seem in no hurry to respond.
Last year, they made multiple invoicing errors, causing me to pay someone else's account. As a result, I inadvertently gained access to some other clients' personal information.
The psychologists themselves are pleasant, but the administrative side of things is a complete disaster.
I would strongly advise against choosing this establishment.
I made contact with CFIR a couple of years back out of frustration with repeatedly shelling out cash to my therapist week after week for coping mechanisms that only kept me in my comfort bubble (and padded her pockets) rather than pushing me to confront my issues! It was a bit challenging to secure that initial appointment, but once I did, I was promptly scheduled for assessments that shed light on the obstacles hindering my progress in previous therapy sessions and provided me with insights on how to navigate my personal journey moving forward. Following that first session, arranging follow-ups online was a breeze. When my job circumstances changed, my therapist recommended me to one of their supervisees for more affordable counseling services that suited my budget. It was through this experience that I discovered student psychologists aspire to fulfill their supervised hours at CFIR, where they are guaranteed exposure to a diverse array of clients and a wide range of therapeutic approaches. I continue to seek support from CFIR, although I have since returned to my therapist following a job switch. CFIR facilitated this transition seamlessly and without any hassle.
I must say, I am quite uncertain about the quality of their service as they seem to be rather elusive to get hold of.
I must say, I've come across quite a few negative reviews on this platform, which I can totally comprehend. However, my personal encounter has been rather distinct.
It can be a bit of a challenge reaching them via telephone on occasion, although I've never had to wait more than a day for a return call. The administrative staff have proven to be extremely supportive and have even made special efforts to assist me when glitches in the system occurred.
As for my therapist, Karine Côté, she has been an invaluable asset on my mental health voyage.
I had to cancel my appointment with a Psychologist via voicemail on the day of our consultation. This was supposed to be my first free session as I was advised to take it. I truly hope this situation can be resolved for the benefit of others seeking help from your services. It is not acceptable to encourage individuals to schedule a complimentary consultation if you are unable to accommodate it, only to ask them to pay for the first session instead.
Absolutely top-notch professionals in this place! Dr. Yara is simply superb :)
I found myself paying $190 for a counseling session with a therapist supervised by a licensed psychologist. It's worth mentioning that I did not directly engage with the psychologist themselves; my interactions were solely with the therapist under their supervision. The pricing seems unreasonable and raises concerns about the business ethics at play. The initial session primarily consisted of an assessment, offering little beyond answering a set of questions - all at a steep cost of $190. This experience leaves much to be desired and I do not plan on seeking their services again.
CFIR paired me with a brilliant therapist and their online platform is incredibly user-friendly, mate.
Well, let me tell you where to start...
I've got to say, it's nearly impossible to get through to them on the blower. My ex and I were on the lookout for some couple counseling, found this spot on Google. Gave 'em a bell a few times, never got a live person, just kept getting that answerin' machine. Left 'em a voicemail and waited...waited and waited. Tried ringing 'em up a few days later, but no dice. Eventually, I threw in the towel and went elsewhere. After a few WEEKS, finally got a callback. But by then, we'd already found a new shrink. A pricey one, mind you, so we thought we'd give these folks a shot. First session, all of us together, found out the therapists were actually students. They assured us that a proper psychologist was overseeing everything, which put our minds at ease. Initial therapy sesh went alright. Laid out our issues and goals. Scheduled a second appointment where we were left alone in a room with a tablet firing endless questions at us. Third session was to discuss the results individually. Seemed fine until my ex returned from her solo appointment sounding all somber. Ended up ditching the place where progress was being made to go here for the cheaper option, only to not even have one joint session before calling it quits. I was miffed for a bit, but decided to return for some self-improvement and confidence boosting. Before all this, they sent a link for online booking to save time, although I'd always booked via the receptionist in person. When I tried booking online, link was kaput. Called 'em up, surprise surprise...no one answers for weeks. Called me back after a while, but too little too late.
In short, it's a good spot for those on a tight budget compared to others, but sometimes going for the cheaper option ain't all it's cracked up to be when it's nigh on impossible to schedule an appointment unless you rock up at their doorstep.
What a agonizing journey from beginning to end. It took 8 long months to see any progress from my daughter's assessment. Absolutely dreadful!
I had a dreadful experience at this establishment, the psychologists are of very low quality. They do not assist with your issues at all, I would strongly advise staying clear of this location.
Top-notch care has been provided to me
I have to give a stellar 5-star rating to CFIR because I truly appreciate their budget-friendly services. Even though I've only had a few sessions with Mr. Stone, I already believe he's an excellent listener who grasps the key points from our discussions.
I've noticed some unjust reviews of CFIR in the past, but they truly offer a wealth of tools and skilled counselors.
I wholeheartedly endorse CFIR.
One small change I'd suggest for CFIR is to answer phone calls directly instead of just responding to voicemails. During a crisis, having reassurance that my appointment is confirmed could have been a calming factor if they had answered right away instead of calling back the next day. Nonetheless, I'm glad I stuck with it.
To anyone reading this, I wish you the best in your journey at CFIR. May you discover the answers you seek, as this is a great place to begin.
Dr. Marc Bédard has been my psychologist for the past few years and has been instrumental in helping me through career and life crises. He is kind, patient, understanding, etc. etc.
I also appreciate CFIR. The staff at their Centre are always kind and patient. The Centre itself is a comfortable place to schedule appointments. I find the CFIR online system relatively intuitive with only minor challenges, which can be easily addressed with the help of their team.
I've never had any problem reaching out to them. The receptionist is lovely, supportive, and punctual. Everything is handled with professionalism and the patient's well-being in mind.
My time at CFIR has been absolutely wonderful. The mental health professionals in Ottawa are incredibly compassionate and excellent at what they do. I can't sing their praises enough! While the wait list may be a bit lengthy, I assure you it's well worth it. The therapy I received here has truly been transformative.
