What is Psilocybe Cubensis?
Psilocybe cubensis is a type of psychedelic mushroom, the main active ingredients of which are psilocybin and psilocin. Commonly referred to as a magic mushroom, shroom, a golden bud, a cube, or a golden cap. It belongs to the fungal family Hymenogastraceae and was formerly known as Stropharia cubensis. It is the most famous psilocybin mushroom because it is widely distributed and easy to cultivate.
There are hundreds of hallucinogenic mushrooms, and Psilocybe cubensis (Earle) Strophariaceae has long been used by humans due to the fact that it is the most famous and easy to grow. The psychotropic effect is provided by the main active ingredients psilocybin (O-phosphoryl-4-hydroxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine) and psilocin (4-hydroxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine). They are indole alkaloids derived from tryptamine, which have strong agonistic activity at 5-HT receptors, and were identified by the chemist Albert Hofmann in 1958.
Psilocybe cubensis is a type of psychedelic mushroom, the main active ingredients of which are psilocybin and psilocin. Mushrooms turn from reddish cinnamon brown to golden, with a bluish / purplish color when damaged by oxidation of psilocin content. The caps flatten when fully grown, and their gills are attached (mounted horizontally to the stem) to an accessory (slightly dented at the mounting point), depending on the breed. The hyphae are like fine straws that look like bubbles or frost.

Dosage of Psilocybe Cubensis
The chemistry and psychological predisposition of individual brains play an important role in determining the correct dose. For a moderate psychedelic effect, take at least 1 gram of dried cubensis mushrooms orally. Usually, 0.25 to 1 gram gives a mild effect, and 1 to 2.5 grams gives a moderate effect. 2.5 grams and above usually produce a strong effect. For most people, 3.5 ounces (1/8 ounce) of desiccant is considered a high dose and can provide an intense experience. For many, doses above 3.5 grams quickly become overwhelming. For a few rare people, a low dose of 0.25 grams can usually produce the full effect associated with a very high dose. However, for most people, the dose level has virtually no effect.
The effect usually begins after about 20-60 minutes (depending on how it is taken and what is in the stomach) and may last 4-5 hours, depending on the dose. Hallucinatory effects are common, such as walls that appear to be breathing, vibrant color enhancements, and organically shaped animations. At high doses, the experience is generally not social and enthusiastic, and often has intense and spiritual qualities.
People taking Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) should be very careful because psilocybin and psilocin are metabolized by the enzyme monoamine oxidase. MAOIs reduce the body’s ability to process mushrooms (about doubling their potency) and can lead to unpleasant, long-lasting, or dangerously strong experiences.
