Having struggled with depression for nearly a decade, this is the first time I'm starting to feel alive again. I joined the CBT/DBT program for depression and ADHD, and the progress I've made in just a few months has been remarkable.
My personal therapist is truly amazing and insightful. We quickly built a strong connection, and she has a talent for redirecting our sessions when needed.
The group therapists are fantastic as well. They work seamlessly together, and their teaching and leadership skills are outstanding. They ensure that everyone in the group is heard and seen, and they can adapt their approach to meet the needs of our diverse group.
Participating in this program requires a lot of dedication and self-responsibility. The skills and techniques learned force you to confront your challenges head-on, without any room for avoidance. It's not an easy journey, but the progress I've made has made the weight I carry much lighter and manageable.
Considering therapy is a brave and courageous decision. I commend you for taking this significant step!
If you're reading this, it's likely because you're thinking about starting therapy. When I was in your shoes, I saw the substantial cost, time commitment, and effort required at Broadview, and I believed that these factors increased the chances of therapy improving my life. I invested around 10K over 9 months, put in hard work and dedication, and eventually completed their program.
Nevertheless, the program didn't yield the results I had hoped for. My life didn't see much improvement, and I became curious about why Broadview wasn't the right fit for me.
I've come to understand that genuine empathy that therapists build with their clients, and the trust that emerges from it, is crucial for successful therapy. However, cultivating genuine empathy takes years for a therapist to master. Broadview brings in newly graduated psychologists, and sometimes these psychologists are still learning during group therapy sessions.
For us as clients (often perceptive to subtle emotional cues), we can sense when a therapist's empathy feels forced or insincere. We also recognize, instinctively, that the therapists may not be practicing what they preach in their own lives (like abstaining from alcohol). When this disconnect becomes apparent, the therapeutic environment can feel inauthentic, particularly for clients attuned to the nuances of human interaction.
Consequently, despite the financial investment, time spent, and effort exerted by clients at Broadview, these experiences over time can hinder the formation of genuine connections with therapists, leading to a lack of trust and ultimately impacting the effectiveness of the therapy. This may explain the prevalence of negative reviews for Broadview on platforms like Google Maps.
At the time, I couldn't quite articulate the discord I felt as a client at Broadview. However, after reflecting and studying my own experiences, I can now put my feelings into words.
If I could offer you advice, it would be to interview multiple therapists before committing to one, regardless of the program. Keep searching until you find a therapist you feel comfortable opening up to. Establishing that trust is vital for positive therapy outcomes, more so than the specific program offered. If you're interested in DBT, remember that it's a demanding journey requiring strong support. Connecting with a therapist you trust and feel a genuine bond with is essential for achieving positive results.
I hope this guidance assists you in finding the right therapist and therapy for you. Remember, you're not alone ❤
I must say, it's rather disheartening to hear about your son's misdiagnosis and the financial strain you were put through during his improper therapy. It's truly a shame that situations like these occur within the mental health service industry. Hopefully, with more awareness and advocacy, we can strive for improved practices and outcomes in the future.
Absolutely dreadful. They charged me an arm and a leg, were very manipulative, and I strongly advise avoiding them at all costs! You can't trust a word they say. Don't be fooled by any positive reviews you come across, they're all phony.
This facility has been a tremendous support for my mental health challenges, particularly through the parent group sessions. My bond with my mother has significantly improved as a result. The majority of the therapists are truly exceptional. However, the only drawbacks I encountered were the high costs and their persistent efforts to schedule follow-up appointments. While I was stable and only required medication management, I felt pressured to attend expensive sessions unnecessarily. Nonetheless, the ambiance is welcoming and I did experience significant benefits initially. The therapy services for adolescents are particularly commendable, and I wholeheartedly endorse this place.
I wouldn't advise anyone to visit this place, as they only made things much worse! The treatment I received was truly terrible! I will never forget it; a complete waste of time and money. I must stress, they do not deserve anyone's trust or business!
I strongly advise against visiting this mental health service. The therapists lack expertise and competence, so your money would be better spent elsewhere.
The doctors at this mental health service are top-notch. They really take the time to get to know you personally. The only downside is the long waiting list.
(Note: The following paragraph would not typically be included in a blog post, as it appears to be a confidentiality notice.)
I had a dreadful experience here, I must say. The support provided was lackluster and it felt like they were just going through the motions without truly helping. To top it off, they made a completely inappropriate suggestion that left me shaken. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone seeking genuine mental health assistance.
I 'ad a dreadful experience, mate. I shouldn't 'ave trusted me therapist. I thought they'd be there to 'elp me, but instead they made things worse. Now I'm feelin' more down than I ever 'ave before. Don't bother wastin' your time or money 'ere, I tell ya. Thanks to Broadview Psychology, I've lost all faith in these so-called "professionals". They just take your cash and you don't see any improvement in yourself.
I've never been to a place with such a lack of empathy and professionalism. Maggie, my therapist, told me I'm scary and has acted inappropriately, worsening my depression and leading to suicidal thoughts. The director, Christine, is heartless and only cares about money. Their intentions to help others are nonexistent. I strongly advise against going there. Many of my friends and fellow group members have had the same negative experiences and shared these sentiments.
I've had the pleasure of working with Dr. Christine Sloss and her amazing team for over two decades now. Their values, ethics, and vision truly stand out and make a positive impact on our community. I am thankful for our partnership and all the support they provide to our clients and their families.
Hey there, just wanted to drop some good vibes your way! Hope you're feeling groovy and keeping positive. Remember to take care of your mental health, it's so important. Sending good energy your way!
We were charged a whopping $260 for a 50-minute session to review the DBT Peer group at this abominable establishment situated in a residential home. The bathrooms still bear remnants of the previous occupant's tub/shower, complete with the toilet plunger awkwardly stashed inside the shower! Convincing a teenager to enter becomes a Herculean task when the signage is weathered and shovels clutter the front porch. We entered with optimism as we truly require DBT group therapy, yet my daughter adamantly refuses to return after this experience.
Don't let the facade of smiles, friendly greetings, and assurances of care and well-being deceive you...this establishment is solely interested in charging your credit card. If you're seeking a temporary companionship, Broadview Psych might suffice. However, if genuine assistance is what you seek, this is certainly not the suitable destination. We were thoroughly disappointed with the insufficient care provided to my daughter...we invested around $10k there before seeking help elsewhere. The outcome did not justify the expense.
I really wish I could leave a rating lower than 1 star. My experience here was absolutely dreadful!! They only care about money and don't provide the help we need. It was truly a terrible and disgusting experience.
I couldn't disagree more with the negative reviews. I've tried other therapies before without seeing any real progress. It wasn't until I found Broadview Psychology that I felt truly understood and equipped with coping skills and strategies to lead a fulfilling life. This therapy was truly transformative and worth every penny. To those who complain about the price - you get what you pay for. I've tried cheaper therapy options in the past and never felt motivated to make actual changes in my life or see improvements.
If you're ready to put in the work (doing homework, reflecting on yourself, being honest, feeling your emotions), then I highly recommend this path - and I've recommended it many times.
