It's disheartening to witness the treatment of individuals and families, and the lack of transparency regarding the actual reality of the experience. The pre-dating of medications that cause further harm adds to the ongoing ordeal. This situation feels like a relentless punishment. Our expectations have not been met.

Ultimately, sobriety relies on the individual's own determination. On the positive side, about 15-20% of the staff were exceptional. The food was excellent, the surroundings were beautiful, and the property was well-maintained (shoutout to Ray). However, during my time there, the program felt quite inadequate. There was also a disturbing incident involving a sexual predator who made inappropriate advances towards the male clients. It took until the fourth week for action to be taken, which was disheartening.

I am sharing my honest review regarding my experience with 1000 Islands as an addiction treatment center. Back in 2021, I arranged for my brother to receive treatment for his opiate addiction at this facility, and the outcome was truly remarkable - he remains sober to this day. However, when I reached out in December, I was informed that our original intake worker, Helen, was no longer with the center, and we were directed to speak with Alieen instead.
Upon discussing my girlfriend's addiction with Alieen, she assured us that they could address her needs effectively. It took some time to secure a spot for my girlfriend, but once she entered detox, everything seemed to be going smoothly. However, upon her transfer to the rehab center, she noticed significant changes from when my brother was there, such as the absence of TVs in the rooms. The counseling staff attributed these alterations to a new owner who had not maintained the same amenities. Alieen had failed to mention any of these changes, leading us to feel misled by her promises of consistency.
One of my girlfriend's counselors even mentioned that Alieen tended to overpromise, and misinformation about Helen's employment status further eroded our trust in the facility. While my brother had previously praised the food quality, it seems to have significantly declined. Furthermore, inadequate staffing levels were evident, with counselors admitting to being understaffed and seemingly indifferent to rectifying the situation.
It is evident that 1000 Islands has undergone substantial changes and falls short of its previous standards. I strongly caution against entrusting your loved ones or yourself to a place that has deviated so drastically from its prior reputation. The lack of managerial presence, except for an individual named John, who reportedly does not exhibit pleasant behavior consistently, further highlights the need for thorough research before selecting a rehab center.
